One of the more unique Caribbean islands is the
tropical beauty Saint Martin. Or is it Sint Maarten? Well, it is both, and that
is one of the things that make this paradise so special. And on top of that,
you get to experience staying at the Riu Palace St. Martin hotel.
The Language
While Dutch is the official language of Dutch Sint Maarten, English is widely
understood and spoken. In French Saint Martin, French is the primary language;
however, most individuals in the tourist industry do speak English. On your
Saint Martin vacation, Creole, Spanish and Papiamento are also spoken. Ask
almost anyone on the island how to speak a few phrases in their native tongue,
and your request will be met with enthusiasm.
Where Should I Stay?
Tourists who have never visited the island often wonder whether it is better to
stay on one side or the other. There is no right or wrong answer to this, as it
only depends on your preferences. The French side seems more European in style,
and in some hotels there is only French television. While there are numerous
hotels that offer efficiency suites, you will not find timeshare rentals on the
French side. The life seems a little quieter, although night clubs are islanding
wide. The beach is marvelous, and bathing suit tops are optional. Cushioned
beach lounge chairs are common.
A St. Martin villa rental often overlooks the gorgeous scenery below especially
at the Riu Palace St. Martin hotel. As you continue driving to the other side of the island, the town of
Marigot boasts wonderful shopping, and many acclaimed restaurants on the island
are in Grand Case that is between Orient Bay and Marigot.
On the Dutch side, maybe you have heard of the popular Saint Martin casinos.
These are actually Sint Maarten casinos on the Dutch side, which is well known
for its casino gambling and you can find diverse and marvelous cuisine here too.
Locals are delighted to point you in the direction of your favorite kinds of
restaurants. As it turns out, there is an almost invisible restaurant that is a
favorite stop for celebrities and folks coming from their fancy yachts. Dutch
St. Maarten timeshare rentals are many as are other nice condominium complexes.
These resorts have all the comforts of home, spotlessly clean, and usually have
pools, lounges and restaurants.
Some have stores on site. They have
beaches distinct to that particular resort complex. And there are casinos next
to or on the property. Television shows and channels seem to be more American
in general.
The island is shared by two countries, France and
The Netherlands; therefore there is Dutch Sint Maarten, and French Saint
Martin. When you are on the island, you can enjoy both cultures, crossing the
borders freely without needing to show your documents as you drive from one
side to the other. Do not forget to visit Riu
Palace St. Martin hotel first. Many deals are offered for the island in your region so it is
very easy to find one that fits your needs.
